Top 5 Most Wanted Mega Evolutions Per Generation

Description

A meme I just found about a wishlist for Pokémon you want most to receive Mega Evolutions at some point in future, so here's my Top 5 Most Wanted Megas per Gen list.

These are some of the Pokémon of each generation I would love to see improved upon in future.

--Gen I--

1. Raichu
Raichu seems to have been forgotten lately by Nintendo. A Mega Evolution can help it become relevant again. It should gain the Electric/Fighting combo and retain its' Hidden Ability, LightningRod, to perform much better in higher tiers.

2. Tentacruel
Tentacruel makes a pretty darn good wall if used correctly. A Mega Evolution can not only help Tentacruel look fierce, but also help out better with its' offenses in combat. I would love a boosted Sp. Atk in order to take advantage of its' impressive special movepool. As for Ability, Swift Swim or Regenerator seem logical to me.

3. Nidoking
Nidoking is a monster, and it's all thanks to Generation 5 for giving it a great gift in the form of a Hidden Ability called Sheer Force. Sheer Force boosts all of Nidoking's attacks that can inflict a secondary effect, like Ice Beam freezing foes or Sludge Bomb inflicting Poison on them. It even removes the Life Orb recoil if used on those kind of attacks. A Mega Evolution can ramp up that Sp. Atk and Speed to fare better in competitive play. Or, it can gain Huge Power and a slightly increased physical attack to ruin everything in combat, cementing it to become the powerhouse it deserved to be since day one.

4. Rapidash
Rapidash has a respectable physical Attack and Speed. Many people want to see it become an Alicorn or Pegasus upon Evolution. A Mega Evolution can do more benefits to Rapidash by giving it Fire/Fairy or Fire/Flying, as well as an Ability to convert the plethora of Normal Type attacks it can into whatever secondary typing it might receive. And cue all the Princess Twilight jokes a mile away.

5. Butterfree
It would be fair to be honest, since Beedrill did get a Mega Evolution in ORAS. Mega Butterfree should be Bug/Psychic to stand up to Mega Beedrill and gain Tinted Lens to stand up for itself a little better in battle against most Flying and Steel Types. It also has access to Quiver Dance, which can be a great benefit when used properly.

--Gen II--

1. Feraligatr
The most beloved Johto Starter in terms of popularity and usefulness in battle. Feraligatr has legit access to Sheer Force in Generation 6, if you were able to get one from PokéBank in time, that is. Sheer Force is always beneficial to mons like Feraligatr. A Mega Evolution can help rev up that usefulness factor up to eleven with better bulk and/or Sp. Atk and Speed. I'd imagine it becoming Water/Dragon to avoid clashing with Greninja or Mega Gyarados.

2. Granbull
Now that Snubbull and Granbull are both Fairy Types, Granbull can now hold its' own against Fighting and Dragon Types. It does need an extra push with its' bulk, though, but this is where having a Mega Evolution can come in handy. Fairy/Fighting will help its' offensive presence, while access to Pixilate can turn all those Normal Type attacks it can learn to deal hefty damage to a lot of dominant forces in the metagame like Garchomp or Tyranitar.

3. Crobat
Crobat is pretty useful, as it has access to the mighty Brave Bird by breeding and the Hidden Ability, Infiltrator, which is always handy. A Mega Evolution can give it some good offensive presence to take advantage of its' broad movepool. Poison/Dark with Levitate can cement Crobat as one of the ultimate trolls in the Metagame.

4. Kingdra
Kingdra now has considerable use with Sniper, thanks to the buff in critical hits lately. What I would like from its' Mega Evolution is to be a great Sp. Atk user to make its' typing something to fear from those who lack a Dragon or Fairy mon/move on their team.

5. Magcargo
This Pokémon can do with some better bulk and Sp. Atk to give it some noteworthy use in a higher tier. Regenerator or Solid Rock can be a good benefit to its' bulk. Fire/Rock is to be maintained for type diversity reasons.

--Gen III--

1. Flygon
Although dropped from consideration by Game Freak and unlikely to see the light of day, Mega Flygon is what fans have been demanding for lately, and for very good reasons. Flygon has a memorable design and if it did get a Mega, fans won't have to be stuck with Garchomp as a handy Dragon/Ground sweeper. A boost to its' Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed, and having Adaptability or Tinted Lens as its' Ability can make it a versatile user in combat.

2. Milotic
Just to make it a good counterpart or check to Mega Gyarados. Mega Milotic could become Water/Fairy or Water/Dragon and gain beneficial Abilities like Prankster to have a great niche in battle as a powerful wall that can hit hard.

3. Breloom
He will need that extra Speed boost to keep up with swift powerhouses like Mega Metagross or Mega Diancie lately. Retaining either Poison Heal or Technician can still give this guy a slightly improved niche as a Spore-inducing powerhouse.

4. Armaldo
Having access to a good physical movepool, Armaldo could do with a Mega Evolution to take advantage of Swift Swim and its' Mighty Glacier-esque attributes in battle. It should be Bug/Water, but knowing Fossil Pokémon rules, that might not come to fruition.

5. Seviper
This menacing viper Pokémon can benefit from the Poison/Dark combo very well with access to Infiltrator and a good Speed stat to make it a force to be reckoned with in battle. Of course, Zangoose should also get one as well.

--Gen IV--

1. Weavile
One of the best offensive Ice Types in competitive play. Weavile has found a cool niche in the metagame lately. If it gets a Mega Evolution, along with the much preferred Refrigerate Ability, it can be a gnarly offensive opponent to deal with in battle. It seems likely to Mega Evolve, but not until Diamond and Pearl get remakes, since it is the signature mon of Cyrus, though.

2. Electivire
One of the coolest Pokémon from Gen 4's heyday. Although, it can be improved to hold its' own in battle. A mixed speedy sweeper with the Electric/Fighting combo is pretty much what the doctor would order for it.

3. Rampardos
There was a time Rampardos was feared to be a fierce opponent in battle with the ever-so useful Mold Breaker Ability, and it was a letdown due to awful defenses and speed. Worry not, as with a Mega Evolution, and a much higher Speed Stat, Rampardos will surely live up to its' reputation one day.

4. Gastrodon
This lovable gastropod is a crafty foe capable of utilising Storm Drain to its' advantage. With a Mega Evolution, its' bulk and power would surely both be appreciated, making both an offensive and defensive way of combat viable.

5. Drapion
This monstrous scorpion has a solid type combo, although, it could do with some improvements. I'd imagine it being scarier in appearance, and pretty fast and bulky to set up some solid entry hazards or traps in battle.

--Gen V--
1. Eelektross
One of Unova's deadliest Electric Types. It has a great attacking movepool, but it sorely lacks the sufficient Speed to take advantage of them. A Mega Evolution might do wonders for it, along with gaining access to Dragon Dance, which will be quite a massive help to it.

2. Hydreigon
Arguably one of Unova's best Dragon Types. Although this mon is not as effective with the threat of Fairy Types these days, it's still very handy to use. A Dark/Steel Mega could give Hydreigon the support it needs to see significant OU usage once more.

3. Krookodile
Another one of Unova's best Dark Types. This shady alligator has a really good use with Moxie. A Mega could take on a fiercer look, along with gaining just enough Speed to catch up with many of the 110 base Speed users, while also outrunning base 100 Speed users that are not Scarfed.

4. Lilligant
It should have been Grass/Fairy. Fortunately, there is always still time to improve her. Lilligant should learn moves like Dazzling Gleam and Moonblast if her Mega is going to be Grass/Fairy.

5. Archeops
Great attacking stats, good speed, useful movepool, good design, bad defences, horrible Ability. Hopefully a Mega Evolution will grant this beastly ancient bird a better Ability.

--Gen VI--

1. Tyrantrum
At long last, Generation 6 gave us a true motherfuckin' T-Rex! Tyrantrum performs well enough with Rock Head + Dragon Dance and Head Smash. It's Sp. Def stat isn't exactly the best in the world, but that is where a Mega Evolution comes into play. The Mega should retain it's Hidden Ability, Rock Head, while giving sufficient boosts to it's Sp. Def and Speed, along with a small buff in it's Defense and physical Attack. With these boosts, Mega Tyrantrum might just become a dominant threat in OU one day.

2.Dragalge
The first Poison/Dragon Type discovered so far. Dragalge can make great use out of it's Hidden Ability, Adaptability. While it is powerful and somewhat bulky, it's Speed is not exactly the best out there. One day, a possible Mega Evolution might just allow Dragalge to take hits a little better.

3. Malamar
We get the well overdue Dark/Psychic Type, and Malamar does not disappoint, despite being in NU. Malamar could have benefitted from a Dark Type equivalent to Superpower, though. Hopefully, this will be rectified in Sun & Moon, or any future installment of the franchise. The Mega should retain Contrary, as that's what Malamar is best known for.

4. Gourgeist
Oh, Gourgeist, what were Game Freak thinking when giving you reverse offensive stats for your movepool? You have access to a diverse special movepool, yet you lack a good Sp. Atk to take strong advantage of them. Fear not, for that, the Mega Evolution, if there will be any, might just solve this power dilemma of yours. On the bright side, you make a fairly good wall, though.

5. Delphox
I cannot stress how thankful I am for finally getting a new Fire Starter that has not followed the obnoxious Fire/Fighting trend. I'm even more grateful for the Fire/Psychic combo and that mage motif it has going on.

It has acceptable special stats and some good Speed to back it up. What's the problem? Somewhat scarce movepool and an inferior design to it's pre-evolution Braixen. Once again, I have hopes that a Mega Evolution will rectify it's design issue.

To the fanbase, it's quite telling if Braixen makes it to Pokken Tournament as playable character, but not Delphox. Then again, Braixen is a Tsundere in Pokémon Amie, and even if Delphox had a much more powerful design, it would not have made a difference, either way.

All Pokémon shown here belong to Game Freak.
